On a visit to Mexico, world football star Ronaldinho lamented the violent events that occurred on March 5 at the La Corregidora stadium, home of the 'White Roosters' of Querétaro, the Mexican football team in which he played.

“I've seen what happened in Querétaro, hard to believe what happened there. I send a big hug to the people of Querétaro, a hug to all the friends I have there,” said Ronaldinho at a press conference on the occasion of his inauguration into the FIFA-endorsed International Football Hall of Fame in the city of Pachuca.

These serious incidents left 26 people injured and a punishment for Queretaro to play their home games behind closed doors for a year, among other sanctions.

“I hope they have a normal life again, that football returns to normal,” said Ronaldinho who played for Queretaro in the Apertura-2014 and Clausura-2015 tournaments of the Liga MX (first division of Mexican football).

Ronaldinho played 25 Liga MX matches for Queretaro in which he scored eight goals, and was runner-up in the Clausura-2015 tournament.

“In Mexico I had good times, a moment that I don't forget is when we played against America, I was lucky enough to score two goals,” Ronaldinho recalled.

In that match on Saturday, April 8, 2015, he entered the 82nd minute and scored two goals in the 4-0 victory that earned him a memorable ovation at the Azteca stadium. “Things went well and it's something I remember very fondly.”

Regarding his entry into the International Football Hall of Fame and his career, the 41-year-old former Brazilian footballer commented that “I was lucky enough to do things right and that many liked my style of play and until now where I go they treat me with great affection”.
