Olga Wornat, journalist author of El Último Rey: an unauthorized biography of Vicente Fernández, said that she has suffered “subliminal” threats from Gerardo Fernández, Chente's second son, who pointed out in the book his alleged links with drug trafficking.

In the midst of the controversy that exists between Cuquita Abarca and Televisa Univision over the production and broadcast of the series El Último Rey, based on the work of Wornat, the journalist spoke about the treatment she received by the Fernández family when she was conducting her research and what she is currently experiencing due to the bioseries about El Charro de Huentitán.

During an interview with Javier Poza for her radio program, the author recalled what it was like to have contact with Gerardo Fernández, whom she pointed out for allegedly kidnapping Vicente Fernández Jr. and who he said he was a friend of Ignacio Nacho Coronel, a deceased drug trafficker who was one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to the Argentine, she sent a message to Gerardo to learn his version of these events that she pointed out in her book, but Chente's son did not react well.

“Gerardo almost threw the phone at me, metaphorically speaking (...) He treated me very badly by telephone. I contacted him on his cell phone with a message to give me his version of the events in which he is involved. Gerardo answered me in a bad way, called me and asked me who had given me his phone number,” Wornat revealed.

After the publication of her book, due to those she uncovered about the Fernández, Olga revealed that she received threats from Gerardo, but she assured that she is not afraid of him or anything, since he has already suffered situations of this kind because of his past books.

Javier Poza asked the journalist if Vicente's son had sent him messages, either directly from him or from others, to which she answered in the affirmative.

'Gerardo is saying he's going to sue you', 'Gerardo says he's going to sue you, be careful, he's going to sue you'. He's in the back, and I say he sues me, but let him say it, show up front. Why didn't he do it in December? Here I am and I have more information, Gerardo,” said the writer.

In addition to this, she confessed that Gerardo has sent her different messages by various means, but she wants him to stop and do things head-on.

On the other hand, Olga assured that Cuquita could be manipulated into demonstrating against Televisa Univision, the series being produced and she, because it is one of the first times that Charro de Huentitán's wife speaks to the media.

“Historically, Cuquita never gave interviews. She never gave interviews and I find it strange to see her now in this video and it made me very sad because she is a woman whom I respect, she has been with Vicente Fernández for many years, she suffered a lot and she is not having a good time (...) I feel that she is being manipulated”, he said.

Finally, he said that his work was not written in order to profit with the Fernández family and that what is being done to stop the series based on his book is “an attack on freedom of expression”.
