On March 11, Shaira Peláez shared on social networks a video with which she left, showing the discussion she had with a traffic policeman, who complained to her because she was allegedly parked in a forbidden place.
According to what the young singer said in a statement, everything happened in the vicinity of the Colina Campestre shopping center, in Bogotá, when she was in a long line to enter the parking lot, as she accompanied her mother to do some shopping.
Considering that this was the first day without VAT in 2022, the crowded place was total and they opted for Mrs. Francy Emilce (mom) to go ahead of the supermarket, while Shaira could enter and find a place.
However, it was there that the transit agent appeared to ask Shaira to move his vehicle, but according to him, despite the fact that there were many other people in the same situation and he could not come, he in uniform would have only asked her to move from there and not on the best terms.
“Without further ado, when my mother arrives to leave, the traffic policeman with silver number 270721, crosses his motorcycle in front of my car, approaches, asks for the documents and tells me: 'I saw that you are a public figure and I am going to record you to publish it', and immediately takes out his cell phone and starts recording, to which I reply that I would also have every right to do so,” he added.
The winner of the 'X Factor' continued her story by arguing that the policeman's insistence on asking her to get out of her van was growing, to the point of becoming intimidating. This is why his mother interceded and a discussion arose in which, even, a passerby would have intervened in defense of the public servant.
Finally, with the intervention of Shaira's lawyer, the singer was given a statement and the conflict ended. However, he received a lot of criticism and insults on social networks, as the videos were broadcast in groups of police officers who reproached his attitude.
“He just wants to make the institution look bad”, “he has to abide by the rules like everyone else”, “he shows how spoiled” and “I hope he has learned his lesson”; were some of the comments he received.
Thus, she made it clear that her intention was never to damage the image of the Police, since she warns that she has always been a grateful citizen for her work and collaborator with the laws, but she could not overlook what she thought was an injustice.
