2022 CAC Games and New Commissions in "Digital CACSO"

SANTO DOMINGO. - Recently the Executive Board of the Central American and Caribbean Organization (CACSO) held its second meeting via Blue Jeans and the third in general.

All of the members on the board, with the exception of the First Vocal, Judy Simons of Bermuda, who presented excuse were able to participate from their respective countries.

Several topics of interest were addressed at the meeting, including the status of the 2022 Central American and Caribbean Games to be held in Panama; applications for the 2021 Beach Games and the Central American and Caribbean Games 2026; as well as the creation of the organizations different work Commissions.

Regarding the status of the Central American and Caribbean Games 2022, President Luis Mejia Oviedo informed the members that he would make a trip to Panama on January 6, 2020, when the Organizing Committee of the Games (COPAN) will hold an official meeting to offer details.

In that meeting, Mr. Mejia will be accompanied by the treasurer of CACSO and President of the Olympic Committee of Panama, Camilo Amado.

Camilo Amado informed that work is being done on the technical manuals for the 2022 Central American and Caribbean Games, and will be presented at the January 6 conference to the COPAN 2022 Organizing Committee.

In the second meeting of the CACSO Executive Board held via Blue Jeans, the deadline of January 31 was confirmed as the date for receiving applications to host the 2021 Beach Games and the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

To date, the cities of Santa Marta, Colombia and León de Guanajuato, Mexico are the only candidates for both events, respectively.

The third point of the CACSO Executive Board was to identify the different Working Commissions, to be composed by one of the different members of the Board. Among them, the following were proposed: Athletes; Audit; Ethics and Values; Candidate cities; Marketing; Legal; Gender equality and diversity; Sustainability and Legacy; Technical and medical.

"I want to celebrate this meeting via Blue Jeans with topics of such interest as a novelty of CACSO" said Mr. Mejia about the meeting of the Executive Committee by the Blue Jeans System.

He concluded by saying: "This will allow us, despite being in different countries, to be able to advance on the issues of the meetings."

The CACSO Executive Committee is composed by its president Luis Mejia Oviedo of the Dominican Republic; Vice Presidents Jimena Saldaña of Mexico, Ciro Solano of Colombia and Sara Rosario of Puerto Rico.

In addition, the Secretary General Eduardo Álvarez of Venezuela; Treasurer Camilo Amado of Panama; as well as the vocals, Judy Simons of Bermudas; Ruperto Herrera of Cuba; Christopher Samuda of Jamaica; Angel Morales of the US Virgin Islands; and Hans Larsen from Haiti.
