The Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) has appointed 25 bloggers with various backgrounds from all regions of South Korea, including 2 foreign students. They are the 6th group of blog reporters appointed by the GUOC.
The ‘online messengers’ will be promoting the Universiade Gwangju 2015 by reporting news about the Universiade and other sports related topics while receiving various incentives such as Universiade reporter’s awards and media accreditation during the World University Games.
The appointment ceremony was also a platform for the bloggers to meet the current Universiade blog reporters and exchange ideas.
The director general of public relations Park Hyun-jeong said, "Online media is an essential tool to promote the 2015 World University Games to people around the world. I hope the new ‘online messengers’ have a sense of pride as being a part of the Universiade. I am confident that they do a fantastic job to report the Universiade news."
129 blog reporters have written 1,420 articles on the Universiade Gwangju 2015 blog (blog.gwangju2015.kr) since 2011. So far, more than 1 million viewers have visited the blog.
