
(ATR) Japanese Olympic organizers announced LIXIL as the latest top-tier sponsor, whileInternational Paralympic Committee names Toyota as a global partner.
LIXIL becomes the official 'Building Components & Bathroom and Kitchen Fixtures' partner of the 2020 Games.
Its addition brings the total number of Tokyo 2020 national sponsors to 22, including 15 gold partners.
"We look forward to LIXIL providing living environments with enhanced comfort to the athletes, officials and all involved in the Tokyo 2020 Games and to people throughout Japan," said organizing committee president Yoshiro Mori.
Tokyo 2020 is on track to generate more than $1.3 billion from domestic sponsors.
The IPC appointed Toyota as a Worldwide Paralympic Partner in the mobility category in a deal running through the 2024 Games. Toyota is already an IOC TOP sponsor.
IPC president Philip Craven and Toyota chief Akio Toyoda announced the agreement in the Japanese capital today.
Under the partnership, Toyota’s rights will include the IPC and all national Paralympic committees (NPC) from 2017 and future Games organising committees including Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022 and the 2024 host to be decided in September 2017.
It is the first partnership in the Paralympic Movement’s history to embrace the IPC, all NPCs and future Paralympics Games under one agreement.
"This is a monumental day for the entire Paralympic Movement as it is the first truly worldwide partnership to involve the IPC, every single NPC and forthcoming editions of the Paralympic Games," said Craven.
Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto added: "As an IOC TOP Partner and an IPC Worldwide Paralympic Partner, I am confident that Toyota will make a significant contribution to the success of the Tokyo 2020 Games by providing vehicles, mobility services and mobility solutions."
