Paris, France; 11th September 2012; The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) today announced a new integrity initiative to mark the start of the 2012 Sorbonne-ICSS Sport Integrity Symposium.
The ‘Save the Dream’ programme, which was launched by H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani (Secretary General, Qatar Olympic Committee) alongside Mohammed Hanzab (President, ICSS) and Italian football star Alessandro del Piero, will see the QOC and ICSS collaborate to raise awareness amongst young athletes and children of the dangers of sports results manipulation and its consequences.
A key part of the initiative will be the creation of a panel consisting of 11 high-profile athletes from different sports and regions around the world, as well as a multidisciplinary team composed of world-leading experts in education, communications, sport management and sport integrity. Alessandro will be Chairman of the project.
Speaking at the opening session, H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani (Secretary General, Qatar Olympic Committee) said; "As part of the QOC’s vision to become a leading nation in bringing the world together through sport, I am delighted to unveil the ‘Save the Dream’ initiative at the 2012 Sorbonne-ICSS Sport Integrity Symposium.
"This new programme, created in partnership with the ICSS, is designed to nuture sports’ core values in the youth of today and will hopefully inspire a new generation of athletes to safeguard the integrity of sport for years to come."
Mohammed Hanzab (President, ICSS) said; "Since its creation in 2010, the ICSS has been working hard to share knowledge and best practice with major event organisers, sports federations and host cities.
"This exciting, new collaboration with the QOC will bring together leading figures from the world of sport to share their invaluable knowledge and experiences with young athletes and children. I look forward to working closely with the QOC and Alessandro del Piero to deliver this unique programme and promote sport’s core values among the next generation of sporting champions."
Alessandro del Piero added; "Protecting the credibility and integrity of sport is essential if we want to inspire a new generation of young people to take up sport. The 2012 Sorbonne-ICSS Sport Integrity Symposium, taking place from the from the 11th – 13th September 2012 at the Paris Sorbonne University, is being jointly staged by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) and Paris 1 University Panthéon-Sorbonne, with the official support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and is the first international event to support the global sporting community in its battle against corruption by sharing knowledge and enhancing current integrity strategies and processes.
The event, taking place at the Paris Sorbonne University from the 11th – 13th September 2012, will see leading experts and entities in the world of sport - including National and International Sport Federations, Governments, International and Regional Organisations including United Nations Agencies, INTERPOL, the European Union and the Council of Europe, as well as Non-Governmental Organisations, Academic Institutions, Betting Institutions, Legal and Anti-Corruption Experts and Law Enforcement - explore trends, challenges and solutions in the field of sport integrity.
Today’s opening session features keynote presentations from senior figures in the world of sport, including Philippe Boutry (President, Paris 1 University Panthéon-Sorbonne), Christophe De Kepper (Director General, International Olympic Committee), H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani (Secretary General, Qatar Olympic Committee), Pilar Alvarez-Laso (Assistant Director-General Social and Human Sciences, UNESCO) and Pier Luigi Dell’Osso (Deputy Head, Italian Anti-Mafia Directorate).

At the 2nd International Sport Security Conference, that took place in March 2012, the ICSS announced partnerships with two leading academic institutions to help tackle the emerging threat of match fixing and extreme behaviour exhibited by sports fans.
As part of the ICSS’s partnership agreement with Paris 1 University Panthéon-Sorbonne, the two organizations will oversee the creation of a new central hub for gathering knowledge with international sporting federations to promote and support global sporting integrity.
In addition to this historic agreement, the ICSS has signed an MOU with the Institute for Fan Culture (IfF), a new academic institution led by Professor Harald Lange (Dept. of Sport Science at the Julius Maximilian University, Würzburg). The MOU will examine why fans exhibit extreme behaviour within a sporting environment, and what can be done to proactively reduce such behaviour at sporting events.
The ICSS regularly organises events to encourage the creation of sport security and integrity networks and to drive new thinking. Le Comité olympique qatari (QOC) annonce le lancement du projet Save the Dream ("Sauver le rêve") à l'occasion de l'ouverture du Symposium sur l'intégrité du sport Sorbonne-ICSS 2012
Paris, France, le 11 septembre 2012. Le Comité olympique qatari (QOC) a annoncé aujourd'hui le lancement d'une nouvelle initiative à l'occasion de l'ouverture du Symposium sur l'intégrité du sport Sorbonne-ICSS 2012.
Le programme Save the Dream ("Sauver le rêve"), conçu par S.A. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani (secrétaire général du Comité olympique qatari), Mohammed Hanzab (président de l'ICSS) et le footballeur italien Alessandro del Piero, associe les talents du QOC et de l'ICSS pour alerter les jeunes athlètes et les enfants du danger que représente la manipulation des résultats sportifs.
La création d'un panel de onze athlètes issus de disciplines et de régions différentes constituera un élément essentiel de cette initiative. Parallèlement, les responsables mettront en place une équipe pluridisciplinaire rassemblant des experts de l'éducation, de la communication, de la gestion du sport et de l'intégrité sportive. Alessandro del Piero a accepté de présider ce projet.
Lors de la session inaugurale, S.A. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani (secrétaire général du Comité olympique qatari) a ainsi déclaré : "Le QOC nourrit l'ambition de rassembler le monde à travers le sport. Dans le cadre de cette vision, je suis fier de vous présenter notre initiative Save the Dream en ouverture du Symposium sur l'intégrité du sport Sorbonne-ICSS 2012".
"Ce nouveau programme, développé en partenariat avec l'ICSS, a pour vocation de développer les valeurs de base du sport chez les jeunes. Nous espérons qu'il contribuera à produire une nouvelle génération d'athlètes soucieux de préserver l'intégrité du sport dans les années à venir."
Mohammed Hanzab (président de l'ICSS) : "Depuis sa création en 2010, l'ICSS milite pour le partage des connaissances et des techniques entre les organisateurs de grands événements, les fédérations sportives et les villes hôtes".
"Cette nouvelle collaboration avec le QOC rassemblera des sommités du monde du sport, afin de leur permettre de partager leurs connaissances et leurs expériences avec de jeunes athlètes et des enfants. Je suis impatient d'œuvrer aux côtés du QOC et d'Alessandro del Piero à l'aboutissement de ce programme extraordinaire. Ensemble, nous allons promouvoir les valeurs essentielles du sport auprès de la nouvelle génération de champions."
Alessandro del Piero : "Protéger la crédibilité et l'intégrité du sport est très important, si nous voulons encourager l'investissement de la nouvelle génération. Aujourd'hui, beaucoup de jeunes athlètes rêvent d'imiter les exploits de leurs idoles. J'espère que ce programme leur donnera la chance de les rencontrer en personne et de mieux comprendre ce qui fait un champion, sur le terrain comme en dehors".
Le Symposium sur l'intégrité du sport Sorbonne-ICSS 2012 est organisé à l'Université Panthéon-Sorbonne du 11 au 13 septembre 2012 par l'International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) et l'Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, avec le soutien officiel de l'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'Éducation, la Science et la Culture (UNESCO). Il s'agit du premier événement international consacré à aider la communauté sportive dans sa lutte contre la corruption par le partage des connaissances et l'amélioration des procédures et des stratégies existantes.
Cette réunion sera l'occasion pour de nombreux experts et représentants des organisations sportives de se pencher sur les tendances, les défis et les solutions qui touchent au domaine de l'intégrité sportive. Des fédérations sportives nationales et internationales, des gouvernants, des organisations internationales et régionales, dont plusieurs agences des Nations Unies, INTERPOL, l'Union Européenne et le Conseil Européen, des organisations non-gouvernementales, des universitaires, des représentants du monde des paris, des spécialistes du droit et de la lutte anti-corruption, ainsi que des agents des forces de l'ordre seront présents pour échanger leurs points de vue.
La séance d'ouverture programmée demain sera rythmée par les discours de plusieurs personnalités majeures du monde du sport, notamment Philippe Boutry (président de l'Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne), Christophe De Kepper (directeur général du Comité International Olympique), S.A. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani (secrétaire général du Comité olympique qatari) et Pier Luigi Dell’Osso (président délégué du directoire anti-mafia italien).

Dans le cadre de leur accord, l'ICSS et l'Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne entendent établir un partage des connaissances et des informations avec les fédérations sportives internationales, pour promouvoir et protéger l'intégrité du sport aux quatre coins de la planète.
En marge de ces dispositions, l'ICSS a signé un Mémorandum d'entente avec l'Institute for Fan Culture (IfF), une nouvelle institution académique présidée par le professeur Harald Lange (département des sciences sportives de l'Université Julius Maximilian de Würzburg). L'objectif est ici de comprendre pourquoi les fans adoptent des comportements extrêmes dans le cadre de manifestations sportives et d'envisager les mesures concrètes susceptibles de modérer ces comportements.
L'ICSS organise régulièrement des événements pour encourager l'innovation et le développement de réseaux consacrés à la sécurité et l'intégrité du sport.
