(ATR) The Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (CACSO) will convene a virtual extraordinary general assembly on August 15 to analyze the situation created by Panama's unexpected withdrawal from hosting the 2022 Central American and Caribbean Games.

In exclusive statements to Around the Rings, CACSO president Luis Mejía Oviedo, shortly after concluding his early morning program on Dominican Republic television, said that he is "absolutely confident that sooner rather than later we will have a country to organize the Games"

"We already have signs of interest from some countries," revealed the IOC member.

ATRadio: Leaps of Faith - Double Olympic Champion Christian Taylor

(ATR) Christian Taylor has lofty ambitions both on and off the track.

The two-time defending Olympic triple jump champion certainly has his sights set on Tokyo in 2021, but considering the postponement, Taylor is equally determined to act as a catalyst for change as the new president of the Athletics Association. The organization is aiming to become a stronger voice for track and field athletes, entirely independent of the World Athletics governing body.

"We are striving to keep these governing bodies and athlete commissions accountable to make sure they are doing what we hope and believe they are doing," Taylor tells ATR’s Brian Pinelli in the latest video edition of ATRadio.

Abre Museo Olimpico y Paralimpico de EE.UU

(ATR) Ileana Rodríguez ha visto hoy otro de sus sueños convertidos en realidad en Estados Unidos.

Rodríguez, una joven cubana integrante de las selecciones paralimpicas de la Unión Americana, participó en su condición de arquitecta como una de las consultoras en el proyecto del Museo Olímpico y Paralímpico que se ha abierto al público este jueves en Colorado Springs.

"Es algo impresionante" dice a Around the Rings.

"Estoy segura que será uno de los primeros museos en el mundo con el mismo nivel de reconocimiento a atletas olimpicos y paralimpicos" comenta Rodriguez.
