Food & Beverage Safety Countermeasures Headquarters have rolled up their sleeves to prevent any food poisoning from the meals served in the Athletes Village (AV) Dining Hall.

Since the Universiade Gwangju 2015 is held in the summer, food poisoning can easily occur. In order to enhance the food safety, 129 officials from 12 government organizations including Food & Beverage Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and South Jeolla Province are responsible for the food safety in the AV Dining Hall.

The officials will inspect the meals at various places including, AV Dining Hall, ITO Village Dining Hall, 24 hotels, 37 competition venues, and the Main Media Center (MMC).

The organizing committee double checks –sometimes even triple checks- the food and beverages to make sure the athletes can perform at the best. We take 6 samples from the food three times a day and four hours before the meals are served. If the any food poisoning is detected, then the food will be disposed of.

The food will be scanned by food inspectors. A food inspector Yoon Sang-jin stated, "We are putting our best efforts to prevent viral food poisoning from the meals at the AV Dining Hall."
