Announcement of public use of new permanent venues ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Games (Part 4)

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is pleased to announce the reopening dates of Musashino Forest

Sport Plaza and Tatsumi Water Polo Centre, venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 for

public use, following the postponement of the Games. The venues will be reopened to the public to the extent

that public usage does not interfere with the delivery of and preparations for the Games. Venues will open

for public use sequentially, once consultations with the relevant organisations have concluded and safety

measures for temporary overlays have been implemented. The opening dates of other venues will be

announced at a later date.

1. Venues

Please see following appendix 1 for details of activities and services and how to use the facilities.

1) Musashino Forest Sport Plaza

2. Other

Please note thatsufficient infection control measures are being taken at each venue based on the TMG’s

"Roadmap to Overcoming COVID-19 – to build a society where the ‘new normal’ is firmly established".

We would like to ask all users for their cooperation with measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19

and ensure safety.

In order to manage the temporary overlays for the Tokyo 2020 Games, as well as ensure the safety of

users, each venue may have restrictions with respect to the area that may be used and its usage. Please

follow the instructions of the facility operator when using the venues.

The public use of venues may be suspended in the future depending on the novel coronavirus situation.

Musashino Forest Sport Plaza

1. Activities and services offered (tentative)

1) Services offered by the facility operator: Sub arena, etc.

Yoga and slow walking classes, etc. for residents of Tokyo are set to be offered.

2) Group use: Main arena, sub arena and indoor pool, etc.

Set to open for use by sports federations and non-sports related groups.

3) Personal use: Indoor pool and training room

Saturday 19 September 2020 to Wednesday 31 March 2021 (tentative)

2) Group use:

Saturday 19 September 2020 to Wednesday 31 March 2021 (tentative)

Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center

(to be known as the Tatsumi Water Polo Centre during the Games)

1. Activities and services offered (tentative)

1) Services offered by the facility operator: Main pool, sub pool and diving pool, etc.

Children’s swimming schools and swimming upskilling programs, etc. for residents of Tokyo

are set to be offered.

2) Group use: same as above

Set to open for use by non-sports related groups. It has already been open for competition

and practice use by sports federations since Friday 21 August 2020.

3) Personal use: same as above

Monday 5 October 2020 to Wednesday 31 March 2021 (tentative)

2) Group use:

Wednesday 23 September 2020 to Wednesday 31 March 2021 (tentative)
