"We are honored to have the opportunity to contribute to this historic journey and success of the World Series of Boxing and AIBA."
"As a new global property, it is extremely important for the World Series of Boxing to select the right partners in every area of our business," said Eric Parthen, Managing Director, World Series of Boxing Americas. "In 776 Original Marketing, we have a partner that brings the experience, passion and international credibility necessary to deliver successful marketing programs and significantly elevate our brand."
In June, the World Series of Boxing held its inaugural draft in London, UK, in which 87 boxers from around the world were chosen by the franchises to make up their quota of international boxers to start the first WSB season.
The regular season starts on the weekend of November 19, 2010 and continues until the weekend of March 18, 2011. During the regular season, each team will play each of the other teams twice (once home and once away). The top team from each conference, plus the best second-place team, will then enter the playoffs during April 2011.
The team and individual championships will then take place in May 2011 in Macau.
Under the Olympic Qualification Guidelines for London 2012, which were approved by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee at its Session in Dubai earlier this year the five individual champions of the World Series of Boxing will obtain a quota place for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The individual WSB champions will be determined when the top two boxers in each of the five weight categories at the end of the regular season face each other over seven rounds in the individual championship final.
Due to the difference in weight categories between the Olympic Games and WSB, the WSB boxers will have to inform AIBA which weight category they wish to compete in at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The remaining men's places for the London 2012 Olympic Games will be determined by the 2011 AIBA Men's World Championships (92 places) and Continental Qualifying Events (140 places). The remaining men's places will be filled by the Tripartite Commission (8) and host country places (5).
