New aspects of Debanhi Escobar's case continue to air as time goes by, as the father of the 18-year-old, Mario Escobar, has maintained contact with the Nuevo León State Prosecutor's Office to learn the truth.
In an interview with journalist Azucena Uresti, he announced that the Prosecutor's Office presented him and his wife several videos, including one in which Debanhi is seen having a confrontation with her friends hours before she disappeared.
He mentioned that he watched about 5 or 6 recordings of the 40 collected by the authorities, in one of them it was observed that one of Debanhi's friends, leaving the party, aggressively pulled her hair.
“One of the girls pulls her hair with brutal force,” said Mario Escobar and clarified what happened before the young woman got into Juan David Cuellar's taxi, a person who allegedly tried to sexually harass her by trying to grab her breast inside the vehicle.
She suggested that the reason they fought, hitherto unknown, could be the reason why they left her alone in the middle of the road.
After the attack, the girls asked a “trusted” taxi driver to take her home, said person was Juan David Cuéllar, who took the last photo of the young woman in which she sees herself alone on the road. Faced with the alleged harassment, he mentioned that the FGE considered that “there was no crime to pursue”.
He also considered that harassment was the trigger for Debanhi's subsequent disappearance, “that's my theory.” And he considered that the photo is an “alibi” on the part of the taxi driver.
When he got out of the taxi and walked a few meters, Debanhi Escobar made a call, “he runs out of balance, battery, I don't know... And the other friend doesn't answer her,” said Mario who said that this hurt Debanhi because “something must have happened with her friends at that party.”
It was then that he decided to ask the Transportes Alcosa company for help, but he does not know what could have happened because there are two missing videos in which he could have been recorded leaving the company, since he was seen entering.
“It is lost with the trailers on, the image of the camera sensors is lost” and that is when the image of the young woman is lost, 8 minutes in which the woman is not seen.
There is no physical evidence showing Debanhi entering the Nueva Castilla motel, where she was found, located near the premises of the Attorney General's Office (FGR). They argued that there was no worker in the area, a version that the woman's father does not believe: “don't play with intelligence.”
His body was found on the night of April 21 in a cistern near the Nueva Castilla Motel. The next day, authorities confirmed that it was Debanhi's body and established the cause of death from a deep contusion.
After the discovery, demonstrations were held by feminist collectives in the state demanding that the “real” reason for death be escalated, since it was questioned whether the young woman accidentally fell into the cistern. Similarly, they called for ensuring the safety of women in the state.
