Peru will host the 2022 Copa América de Talla Baja in May: 11 more teams will participate

The National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, together with the organization of the tournament, made it official with an emotional video on their social networks. The championship will be played at the sports center 1 of La Videna.

The second edition of the Copa América de Talla Baja 2022 will be played in Peruvian lands and will feature the participation of 12 teams. Through a video on Conadis social media, the event was made official for the month of May and will have the Peruvian national team as the host. The first time it was played, it was won by the Paraguayans in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and only nine countries participated.

As confirmed, the competition will last five days, between the 20th and 24th of next month, and the venue will be the No. 1 sports center of La Videna, in San Luis, Lima. In total there will be 12,000 people among all the participating teams: Argentina, Ecuador, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Morocco (invited) and Peru.

The draw for the fixture will take place on May 2nd and the exact schedule will be known there. Let's remember that this tournament was going to take place in November 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic that affected much of the world ended up postponing it to date. The tournament is endorsed by the International Federation of Low Size Football (FIFTB).

The cup was promoted with an emotional video that seeks inclusion. “This year Peru will host the national teams with the largest heart of the continent. They come to give up everything because of their colors and to play every play, but their real match is for visibility and respect. We Peruvians have already shown that football unites us and that we are the best fans in the world”, you can hear in the first instance.

“Today we have the challenge of embracing greatness and also being the best venue for inclusion. It's more than football!” , you can also hear it. The video has subtitles and also the deaf-mute language in the lower right part.

Peru will host the second edition of the tournament. The first was held in Buenos Aires.

FIRST AMERICA'S CUP OF LOW SIZE

With a 3-0 win, Paraguay beat host Argentina in Buenos Aires and became champion of the first edition of the Copa America of Talla Baja, held in 2018. Two goals from López and one by Núñez sentenced the match played at the complex located on the premises of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), in the Buenos Aires town of Ezeiza.

The 'Albirroja' was the only undefeated in the entire tournament and in this 2022 will seek to maintain the title. The bronze medal match was played by Brazil and a North American team of American and Canadian players. It all ended 10-1 in favor of the 'verdeamarela'. Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and Morocco were the other selected participants.

The first edition was played on on the on only undefeated was the 'Albirroja' .

CONADIS SPOKE

The Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) spoke out through ssusocial networks with a motivating message of inclusion. The idea is that para-sportsmen end up getting the recognition they deserve for their efforts.

“Peru in the eyes of the world! We host the Copa America of Low Size. From May 20, our national team will compete alongside 11 other teams leaving everything on the court because this match is also for inclusion. We'll be there!” , can be read.
