Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos used his Twitch.tv platform to refer to the criticism he has been the victim of after saying that the picarones are of Chilean origin in an advertisement for a brand of soft drinks, in Chile. The influencer noted that he was surprised by everything that has generated this statement, he also explained that he only trusted Chileans, who assured him and continue to assure him that Peruvian stew belongs to his country.
On April 18, the Spaniard who has a large legion of followers used his Twitter account to apologize, asking that the attacks stop and that he accepted his mistake, that the picarones are from Peru and not from Chile. Later, he used his channel to explain why he said it.
“I got into trouble without knowing it. Not that it was a trending topic only in Peru, maybe I have a tweet from the president of Peru shortly. I've messed up one with the rogues, it falls on my mother, but the one I messed up with,” Ibai began quite surprised with the situation.
“I have started to see several tweets from people, I understand that from Peru, insulting me and some of good vibes (good vibes), it was a mixture. (I said) what is happening, what is happening. I have started to see tweets, which went viral, viral, viral, that one of the hell was coming out”, continued the streamer.
In order for his followers from other countries to understand, he put in co-text what was happening. “Well, for those who don't know, I made an announcement with Pepsi, and in that announcement I named several Chilean foods, including picarones. Well, apparently, the picarones, according to Peruvians, are not from Chile, they are from Peru. And many people will say, 'what else will it give'. Well, you'll say that, ask the people of Peru. The mother who brought me the one who got involved,” he explained.
IBAI LLANOS SAYS I TRUST CHILEANS
The streamer pointed out that he is not very assiduous to see the cell phone and what is written on the networks, but it struck him powerfully that a user indicated that he has committed a great lack of respect towards Peru, and that before saying that the picarones are from Peru, only enough to check the Google.
“I made the announcement with people from Chile, and I trusted that the picarones were typical of Chile, I'm not going to discuss where they are from. Of course, I'm not going to start googling where the picarones are from before recording it when I'm doing it with native Chilean people. It's like a Spaniard saying to me, 'Ibai this is the paella, it's from Spain'. Are you going to google it? Well, he's not going to lie to me. There were not 3 Chileans (in the recordings of the announcement), there were six, then of course, suddenly one started to mess up, there were people very offended,” he explained.
HE APOLOGIZED FOR PRESSURE
Ibai said he had to apologize on Twitter for the users' insistent request, however, he was very confused, as Chileans continue to assure him that the stew is from Chile.
“The picarones are from Peru according to the people of Peru, but you ask them in Chile, and they are from another side. And be careful not to get a Mexican and tell you they are from Mexico. Really, I'm not going to get into that debate, I don't want to argue, but one has been messed up. It was a crazy thing, really, if I offended any Peruvian, I apologize, I didn't know that the picarones were from Peru, of course, they are from Peru according to Peruvians, because Chileans keep telling me they are from Chile,” he clarified.
IBAI LLANOS SEARCHES GOOGLE AND IS CONVINCED THAT PICARONES ARE PERUVIAN
This is how he proceeded to search Google where the picarones come from, finding the answer that many Peruvians claimed. “Picarones are one of the favorite desserts of all Peruvians. The story goes that the picarón had its origins in pre-Hispanic times, when the indigenous people prepared a similar recipe based on sweet potato and pumpkin,” the commentator read surprised, accepting his mistake completely.
After pausing, he said: “Yes, he is from Peru, according to Google. Now a Chilean will say, “Google lies”, making it clear that it will not enter into debate on the subject and will stick with what it found on the Internet.
