Freddy Rincón died last Wednesday, April 13, after being involved in a traffic accident in the city of Cali. On Friday, the former player's funeral was held and this Saturday a tribute was held at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium, which was attended by his family, friends, closest people, former teammates, coaches and fans.
One of the most emotional moments was when one of his sons, Sebastián Rincón, who is also a footballer like his father, dedicated a message to him on behalf of the family. He remembered some anecdotes and talked about what Freddy was like in his family environment.

Freddy Rincón made his professional debut at Independiente Santa Fe in 1986 and with the albirrojo team he managed to win a Copa Colombia. Freddy Rincón will be remembered for his physical portent, his speed, his technique and his scoring ability, something that led him to be part of one of the golden generations of the Colombian national team and even to appear in different teams, such as Palmeiras, Napoli, Real Madrid and Corinthians. According to Sebastian, his father was always very strict and demanding with him, even when he had good games.
“He was also a critical dad, because many times he played games, he felt that he played well, that he had a good game and at the end of them I always had the call from him saying: 'I congratulate you key, but you have to work better on your left leg, you have to get to the area more, in such and such a play you have to do it quicker'. I took it as if he never let me relax, as I promised him in life and now that he is not with us, continue doing things well so that day after day he is more proud of me,” he said.
