“I would love to act again”, Karen Martinez talked about her career, her clothing collection and why she won't be on 'Factor X'

If we talk about Karen Martínez, a word that can quickly come to mind and, which contains her talent, creativity and ability to function correctly in any professional field, it is versatility. Among her work tasks, the Cartagena has now focused on one in particular: the launch of a clothing collection that received the name Astral; this line is derived from the Agybo brand (where she works together with Fonseca and her husband, Juanes).

In this way, Martínez — in dialogue with Infobae — talks about the development of her collection, without leaving out other professional issues, for example, her absence as a presenter in the new season of 'Factor X' and the desire to return her acting talent to some production.

Infobae: Did Juanes and Fonseca have any participation in the creation of the collection?

Karen Martinez: Not them, not in this one. In this third collection they definitely gave me the green light to do what I felt, it was a collection under my vision, everything I am (...) it was always in my head to get some clothes out, I had many ways to go, but one of them was sportswear. Astral is born (...) I definitely vibrate with everything that has to do with the universe, the energies that the planets have in each of us (...) and when we decided to translate it into an idea, in a garment, we wanted to put a mystical touch on it, but very subtle (...) that is why you will see the symbolism of the zodiacal signs, but very small”.

Infobae: What was it like working together with designer Camilo Gutiérrez? what was the contribution of each one in the collection?

Karen Martínez: Diego is a very creative and very talented person, one of those artists who manage to capture all your idea and emotion. Every time we meet we talk a lot, I told him who he was, what I liked, we vibrated in the same things, there was a very cool connection, but everything is definitely under my lens, under my eye, it's a women's collection, sportswear for women, I was very aware of the colors, the fabric (...) and when it came to designing or giving them a different shape to the symbols, he did it as a creative”.

Infobae: Beyond sports, could Astral be combined in an elegant context?

Karen Martínez: It can be perfectly combined with pieces that we also have within the collection and it is always focused on sports, but one in fashion what you need is creativity and ingenuity and basically the garments were created so that you can look good anywhere.

It is worth noting that, Astral contains all sizes and on the Agybo page you can see them.

Infobae: You have been seen to develop in several professional facets, is there one in particular that you want to focus mainly on or that you just want everything to happen?

I've always thought that in life everything happens and everything comes when it has to come. I believe a lot in the flow of life, at the moment I am focused on this project and on those that come that are going to be entrepreneurship. I will never leave aside what I am also passionate about, which is television, the media. At the time, they have passed and projects have been presented that have allowed me to do them and have made me have a beautiful career, which I am proud of the things I have done (...) but at this moment I have no immediate plans to work in the media, but we have a very important channel that is the internet, networks social and through this one can continue to communicate with people.

Infobae: Precisely with regard to social networks, Juanes has published some videos of Dante (his son) singing through this medium, has the child seen music as a hobby or has he shown a professional interest in it?

Dante is entering preadolescence, is twelve years old and a child with a very special sensitivity. He loves to sing, he has a wonderful voice, a voice that comes to people because indisputably every time Juan plays a video he receives very nice comments from people and Dante knows it, but he is still a child, he is at that moment that he kind of does not. It is growing and we have to leave it, there are times in this growth where they let go of things and grab others. What we have always wanted in this house is for them to be them.”

Infobae: Why won't it be in the new season of 'X Factor'? :

Karen Martínez: Sometimes things can be done and sometimes they can't. Here in Miami (United States) I have many things to do with the subject of children and projects, but I am happy that next season Laura is going to do it, she is a tremendous presenter and she is going to do it super well, a very nice format that is 'X Factor' and I simply have thanks for the opportunities they give me to be on screen a while. This time it wasn't, but they are in my heart.”

It is to be recalled that, the audience saw Karen Martinez and Mauricio Velez performing as lead presenters on 'Factor X' (2020-2021). Laura Barjum also captured her talent as a presenter in the musical reality show, however, her work was done clearly from the dressing rooms. Now, the story will be different in the new installment of the reality show — which is currently on the set — as Barjum has the title of lead presenter.

Infobae: Throughout your career, are there any moments you would like to repeat?

Karen Martínez: I feel that every experience I have lived has been enjoyed to the fullest, I have lived it as it should be. I would love to act again because I have had that earring for a long time, and I feel that it is time because the productions (...) it's not like you were going to make a novel before and like a year of recording and it's very difficult when you have a family, now the song is getting much better and better, that's what I want to do again soon.

Infobae: The collection just came out (November 4), is there anything else you're working on about it?

Karen Martínez: We are now doing other family ventures, which we will soon be able to tell you about. One with the girls (Luna and Paloma, their daughters) and another with Juan (Juanes), who have been working on it all this year and that makes me very happy (...) it is an undertaking on the subject of health, well-being, and also fashion, with fashion girls.

And, beyond the work chores, Karen Martínez and Juanes' family will enjoy Christmas in Colombia, however, the presenter and singer will not be in their home country for the whole month of December, as the United States is where they will celebrate — along with their three children — the New Year.
