In Huancayo, the President of the Cabinet of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, together with other ministers of state, began the decentralized session of the Council of Ministers, while the president Pedro Castillo hasn't arrived yet, even though he mentioned that he would attend.
Around 9:30 in the morning, the president of the Council of Ministers begins the meeting at the Wanka Coliseum and announces the delay in Pedro Castillo's flight, but the president still holds meetings at the Government Palace. Faced with this, the leaders of the main communities showed their annoyance and demanded the presence of the president to the premier, who replied that he will arrive.
“Our leaders of the 100th Ashaninka community entered to carry out the ordering platform for the president of the needs of our communities, especially the technical table that will be installed in Satipo, since in 200 years, the communities were neglected by the presidents of duty who have passed”, mentioned a member of the community.
There is speculation that the president would arrive at the venue of the session around 11 in the morning.
In Huancayo, police officers have been skirting the surroundings of the Wanka Coliseum for hours before this session began to avoid protests or possible acts of violence in the area.
In accordance with the agenda of the Council of Ministers, a roadmap was being worked on to address and solve the agrarian, transport, socio-economic and citizen security issues.
The session began with a minute of silence from all those attending the Colosseum, this in reference to those killed in the protests.
PEDRO CASTILLO SWORN THE NEW MINISTER OF HEALTH
A few hours earlier, the president was taking the oath of the new Minister of Health, Jorge Antonio López Peña today, Thursday, April 7 - World Health Day. He enters the portfolio, after the departure of former minister Hernán Condori, censored by the Congress of the Republic.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in the Cáceres room of the Executive Branch headquarters and was led by the head of state at 7:24 a.m.
López Peña is a surgeon at the National University of Central Peru and has been serving as deputy minister of public health since March 11. In addition, he was director of the Daniel Alcides Carrión Regional Teaching Hospital in Huancayo.
He replaces the outgoing sector minister, Hernán Condori, who resigned after being censored by the Congress of the Republic. The appointment and swearing-in of the new head of the Ministry of Health comes after a week when the portfolio remained without a leader.
During the debate on Condori's censorship, several legislators argued that he did not have the qualifications to remain in office. This is after he was questioned his support for pseudo drugs without medical support, the illegal performance of medicine, ensuring that cervical cancer can be diagnosed in a minute, among others.
“For my family, for my Peru, for health for all, with quality, without distinction, yes, I swear,” said the now minister when accepting office.
