It is worth mentioning that the procedures to obtain the Welfare Card this year will begin until April 15 due to the electoral vein that the National Electoral Institute (INE) imposed on the occasion of the Mandate Revocation Consultation that will be held on April 10 and in which Mexicans will be able to vote for or against that Andrés Manuel López Obrador will continue in his office as president of Mexico.
The Pension Program for the Welfare of Older Persons emerged in 2001, proposed by AMLO, when he was head of government of the Federal District, now Mexico City. Initially, it benefited people over 68 years of age and 65 who lived in indigenous communities, but since August 2021 it benefits all adults aged 65 and older without distinction.
Currently, this program reaches 10 million citizens and consists of a bimonthly financial support of 3,850 pesos, as well as offering other benefits such as making bank transfers and paying for services in various establishments. The amount is expected to increase between 2023 and 2024 and will grow by 20% each year, exceeding 4,500 pesos.
