New transit program in CDMX: more than 50 violations and 73 cars were applied to the corralón on the first day

The SSC Undersecretary of Traffic Control also announced that 400 troops participated in the actions, including 100 members recently graduated from the Police University

On the first day of activities of the “Transit Renewal Program”, 52 violations were carried out and 73 vehicles were sent to the corralón, reported the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City (CDMX).

During a press conference in the company of the capital's head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the SSC's Deputy Secretary for Traffic Control, Francisco Javier Moreno Montaño, announced the results obtained during the first day the program was implemented.

According to the official, “the traffic elements authorized to infringe were deployed at strategic points in the city to improve mobility, which allowed 52 violations, the referral of 73 vehicles to the corralón and the attention of 21 automobile mishaps.”

It should be recalled that on April 1st, the Ministry of Citizen Security reported that as part of the actions to combat corruption and ensure safe mobility, the agency would carry out the “Transit Renewal Program”, with the aim of allowing citizens who are creditors to a fine can receive discounts from 50% to 90% for prompt payment.

According to the agency, the program includes three axes, one of which is a new police force trained and certified to infringe, which will have a distinctive uniform.

The second axis is the simplification of procedures for issuing fines; as well as amending the Traffic Regulations to reduce the grounds for sending a vehicle to the corralón.

In addition, with the new scheme for issuing and paying traffic fines, paper records will be eliminated and electronic devices will be used “that will allow payment to be made from an electronic portal,” he said.

In addition, the authorities announced that there will be a discount program for cash infringements, which will benefit from a 90% discount if the payment is made within the first 10 days after the date of infringement, and a 50% discount from the 11th to the 30th.

The Ministry of Citizen Security explained that citizens will be able to verify through the “My Police” application whether traffic agents are empowered to infringe by typing their license plate number or through a Locatel query.

Finally, the third axis involves reducing the number of grounds for sending a vehicle to the corralón, so the Mexico City Traffic Regulations will be amended, which currently includes 77 grounds and will be amended to remain at 37.
