Once the Mexican National Team got to know the group in which it will compete in Qatar 2022, the internal rivalry began for the players who have the goal of reaching the World Cup. And one of the Mexican archers who will be looking for a place will be Carlos Acevedo.

The Santos Laguna goalkeeper spoke about the issue at a press conference and did not rule out the possibility of going to a first world championship under the direction of Gerardo Tata Martino. He said that with constant work and humility he will hope to reach the final call that will represent Mexico in Qatar 2022.

Acevedo said he was aware of the professional level there is for the Tri goalkeeper position, so he pointed out that his work in the Grita Mexico Clausura 2022 championship in the Liga MX should be enough to raise his hand and go as a substitute goalkeeper.

“I think that the four and five archers that Professor Tata has been calling are archers of the highest quality, of great hierarchy,” he said.

It should be noted that in the title for the goal, Tata Martino has always opted for Guillermo Ochoa. Throughout the World Cup qualifiers, Memo was responsible for defending the tricolor arc, while the other cancerberos followed the Concacaf Octagonal from the substitute bench.

For this reason, Acevedo could aspire to be one of the substitutes of the American footballer. But the opportunity would allow him to get closer to the National Team so that in the future he will become one of the regular selections. Faced with such a scenario, the player from Torreón shared the excitement caused by the panorama of competing with Alfredo Talavera, Jonathan Orozco, Rodolfo Cota and Ochoa.

“Just being able to compete for a place fills me with great pride and I have that motivation to be able to fight for one; obviously with great humility, with work, with effort and God and work will say. I'm going to work to the fullest to be able to stay.”
