Faced with the economic crisis that Colombia went through after the arrival of covid-19, the National Government, through the Department of Social Prosperity (DPS), created the VAT refund, a measure of economic support granted to low-income families, and which seeks to alleviate the impact of the taxes applied to them to the country's products and services.
The grant, which is delivered on a bimonthly basis, will have its second turn of the year throughout this month. According to the director general of Prosperidad Social, Pierre García, from Saturday, April 2 to Sunday, April 17, the two million Colombian households that are part of the program will be able to start collecting the $80,000 corresponding to the eighth payment cycle.
The director of Prosperidad Social also explained that, for this new disbursement of the financial support measure, the beneficiaries will be able to withdraw the draft in the more than 30,000 points of the operator Super Giros and its allies nationwide, who are responsible for delivering the subsidy in all municipalities of the country.
However, the entity specified that those who move from their current municipality of residence and therefore want to change the point where they receive the subsidy, must report this novelty through the program link in each municipal mayor's office or through the official WhatsApp line 3188067329.
In the case of Bogotá, citizens may request the change of municipality for the payment of the VAT refund at a Redcade or Supercade point, or through the official WhatsApp line.
“It should also be borne in mind that the new developments generated during the current program cycle will be implemented for the next one,” said the Department of Social Prosperity.

Because many recipients of the VAT refund have been deceived by unscrupulous individuals, the Department of Social Prosperity gave some recommendations to avoid being scammed.
1. Don't forget that in order to receive your VAT refund draft you don't need any intermediary, as the procedure is personal and non-transferable; you don't need to register on any platform or deposit any kind of money.
2. Please note: the national government is solely responsible for selecting the people who are part of the program.
3. The only official means of communication about the program and its procedures is the Department of Social Prosperity website: https://devolucioniva.prosperidadsocial.gov.co/Home.html #.
4. The National Government does not request personal information such as identification numbers, bank account numbers, addresses, etc., or through websites or text messages.
