Through his Twitter account, the musician Paisa, Lucas Arnau, recounted what he had to experience during the 25 days he has been hospitalized in a clinic in Medellín. After knee transplant surgery and he became infected with bacteria, he forced doctors to surgically intervene on the Colombian singer-songwriter five more times.

Then, the dialogue continues, “we didn't have to do this, we live far away, then they don't come so easy, besides having the privilege of having a sister who travels from another part of the world to see you, that alone is too much happiness. To be able to talk to my aunt and laugh with her out loud with faggots.”

Arnau himself tells that it all started when he was 17 years old, playing football and his knee “came off”. At that time he had meniscus surgery.

From the hospital bed, in dialogues for El Colombiano, he said that, despite the pain and discomfort in the joint, he played high-impact sports such as skysurfing and jogging for 'stubborness'. As a result, he forced the artist to undergo a new surgery, at the age of 27, in which his menisci were removed and his femur was pierced, so that he would “sweat and function like tissue,” said Lucas.

The artist paisa decided to have a total biological knee transplant. He was on the waiting list for six months until a donor joint appeared compatible with him.

Since then, he has been trying to remove it five more surgeries, to prevent it from reaching the tissue and bone, with a treatment with antibiotics and analgesics.

In addition, he mentioned that his family and friends have been a support in these very complex moments, “they have kept me strong and positive, as well as the number of messages that followers give me, that motivates me a lot”.

The artist is in therapy and can now bend his knee at a 30-degree angle and the wound was closed, after a culture that was done on the wound to detect bacteria was negative. Additionally, doctors talked about the possibility that this weekend he could be discharged and returned home.
