The Peruvian national team faced its Uruguayan counterpart in a match that took place at the Centenario stadium in Montevideo. Both squads came out with the intention of winning and thus securing a quota that will lead them to the Qatar 2022 World Cup to be held in November.
The 'charrua' team took the lead on the scoreboard and scored their first goal minutes before the end of the first half of the match. However, at the start of the second half, the 'white-red' squad made some changes to seek a tie.
Throughout the second half, the Peruvian national team sought a draw in order to continue their dream of qualifying directly to the World Cup. His insistence was so strong that a few minutes after the end of the match, Miguel Trauco fired a powerful shot from almost the middle court.
The ball was going with great speed, so the Uruguayan goalkeeper stepped back abruptly to catch the ball. Also, when the ball reached his hands, it got into the goal, causing him to Peruvian fans and players ask for the goal to be scored.
Despite the fact that many identified that the ball had entered, the Brazilian referee decided to ignore the Peruvians' request and continued the match as if nothing had happened, he didn't even check with VAR if it had been a goal.
Finally, after 95 minutes the match ended and the Uruguayan team qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar amid the indignation of the fans of the Peruvian national team, who traveled to Montevideo to encourage the 'bicolor'.
On social media thousands of Peruvian fans expressed their indignation at the referee's decision, creating different memes. In addition, they asked CONMEBOL to investigate what happened and if possible punish the Brazilian for favoring the Uruguayan national team.

WHEN IS PERU'S NEXT MATCH?
The Peruvian national team will face its Paraguay counterpart on Tuesday 29th and that will be their last chance to get a quota that will take us to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. If he wins, he will have to face a meeting with the representative of the Asian confederation.
It should be remembered that the last time both squads met was in October 2020, for the start of the South American Qualifiers. That match took place in Asunción, where the final result was 2-2.
HOW DOES PARAGUAY COME TO FACE PERU?
Paraguay had a tight match against Ecuador, a rival that last day equaled 1-1 with the 'bicolor' and who hopes to remain in their privileged position in the standings in order to tempt a spot for the World Cup. Although the 'Guaraní' squad is among the last places, it will seek to ruin the plans led by Ricardo Gareca.
