The Colombian Institute for the Evaluation of Education (Icfes) released a new ranking of the best schools in the country according to the results of the Saber 11 Tests of 2021, in which Bogotá ranked as the city with the most educational institutions in the list, which is headed by an institution of Floridablanca (Santander).
In this new list of the 25 Colombian institutions with the best results of the Saber Tests, the New Cambridge School in Floridablanca, Santander, was the surprise this year, obtaining the first place in this ranking with an average score of 401, with English being the area in which it stood out the most.
The city of Bogotá also stood out in this new ranking, having 15 of its schools among the list of the 25 institutions with the best results of Icfes nationwide. The Campo David Lyceum, located in the capital of the country, won the second podium of the list, with an average score of 390, with English being the best area for its students.
The third place was won by the Cambridge School, in Pamplona (Norte de Santander), with a score of 389, while in fourth and fifth place were the British Colombian Gymnasium in Bogotá, with a score of 383, and the Anglo American College of Bogotá, with a score of 381.
The other Bogotá institutions that entered the Icfes ranking were: Santa Francisca Romana College; Buckingham Bilingual College; Alberto Merani Institute; Nuevo Colombo Americano School; Vermont Gymnasium; San Carlos College; San Jorge College in England; Los Nogales College; Navarra High School; Montessori British School; Reuven Feuerstein College, and St. Matthew the Apostle College.
The results of the ranking also revealed that, of the 25 institutions with the best Saber 11 tests, 13 are calendar B and 12 are calendar A. Likewise, Icfes revealed that, in the general list, only official schools begin to appear up to box number 47.
The ranking of the colleges in Colombia with the best results in the Saber 11 Test also generated questions about how the score of each of them was established to be included in the Icfes list.
As explained by the newspaper La República, in the Saber 11 tests, Icfes evaluates five areas: Critical Reading, Mathematics, Social and Citizen, Natural Sciences and English. “Based on this evaluation purpose, the design of the test guarantees two elements: validity and reliability, through a series of questions and answers for each area of knowledge,” the economic newspaper specified.
Thus, taking into account that the overall score of the test ranges from 0 to 500 decimal points, depending on the result obtained by each educational institution, it was placed on the list of schools with the best results of the Icfes.
