La Paz, 23 Mar Bolivia's historic striker and goalscorer Marcelo Martins Moreno asked his followers this Wednesday for “prayers and good energy” to help his father Mauro Martins, who is going through “a very delicate moment”. “I need the prayers and good energies of all of you, of all those who once shouted a goal of mine. I'm needing them right now, a lot,” Martins said in a video he posted on his social media. At first, the striker of Cerro Porteño Paraguayan told his followers that he wanted to “share a very particular moment”, the video runs with some cuts while watching the ram with red and watery eyes. At the end of the 41-second video, Martins asks his followers to help him “pray and have a lot of faith” to face the situation that affects him and about which he has not given more details. Some Bolivian media claimed that the recording, in which he asks for prayers for his 72-year-old father, was made from the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, although it did not transcend whether the situation referred to by the Green player is due to a health problem. Mauro Martins, born in Brazil but based in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz, has been the main link between the Bolivian media and the football player, since he has often provided information on the situation of his son in the different teams he has played for. Marcelo Martins has been called up at the last minute to play Bolivia's last match against Brazil in La Paz, so he is expected to join the practice when Green returns to the country after facing this Thursday's match against Colombia for the qualifiers to the World Cup in Qatar. Martins will not play against the Colombian team due to accumulation of yellow cards and against Brazil will seek to consolidate himself as the top scorer in the qualifying rounds to extend his record which so far has 10 goals.
