Diosdado Cabello, one of the most influential men in Venezuelan politics and the Nicolás Maduro regime, referred in recent hours to the conflict situation in Ukraine and Russia, giving a short analysis of this regrettable event. In turn, the Venezuelan deputy and military officer made a delicate statement regarding Colombia, therefore, by relating the European context to the tense situation between the two South American countries, hinted at a possible and alleged invasion into Colombian territory from their country.

On this occasion, at the press conference of the national leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Cabello assured that from Russia they would soon finish removing the Nazis from Ukraine, after which he stated that someone had proposed to “decocainize” Colombia and with this, see what was left in the country. It is important to note that the relationship of the European context with this statement would indicate that Venezuelan political leader leaves in the air an idea about an alleged incursion into Colombia.

In his speech, Diosdado Cabello said: “The NATO people now met with Russia who answered them, NATO is what they call the world order, this is where the new world order is going to come from, hence what happens in Ukraine, well I am not an expert on the subject, but the longer the time passes, the worse it will be for the Nazis of Ukraine, because denazification will take root and so will demilitarization. Someone said; because they don't take advantage of decocainizing Colombia to see what is left.”

In recent weeks, Venezuela has outlined much of its military power on the border with Colombia, as it sent strong weapons equipment accompanied by military personnel, to make a presence in border areas. Concerning this operation, doubts arose about the possible presence of Russian troops in the neighboring country, however, everything suggested that these soldiers would fight the insurgent groups that were in this area and are currently lashing the two countries.

The Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, indicated that this mobilization of troops could also be the reason for the visit of the US delegation to this country, in order to appear to be a good management of the conflict. However, this deployment of authorities was never clear, which continues to generate uncertainty in Colombia today, including the President Ivan Duque stated that in the face of any provocation from the Maduro regime, the nation was prepared to respond in various contexts.

Relations between Colombia and Venezuela have been fragmenting over the years, although there has been a link since the time of the Colony, the two countries have differed since Hugo Chávez's arrival in office. Even though the regime has been a guarantor in various humanitarian and peace processes in Colombia, its link with the extinct FARC was one of the reasons for generating enmity. Since Colombia, the regime has always been accused of safeguarding and protecting insurgents, even today with guerrillas such as the ELN.

The rupture of diplomatic relations occurred with the emergence of Enrique Capriles, who at the time was a candidate for the Venezuelan presidential election and denounced alleged fraud to the region. After this, from Venezuela they affirmed that there was a plot against the Maduro regime supported by Colombia, the final thrust for this fragmentation was the recognition of Juan Guaidó as president of this country, since the government of Iván Duque was one of the first to receive him and exalt him as president of that nation.
