Less than a month after the Mandate Revocation consultation takes place, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) assured that if the “No” wins the majority during election day, he will leave his post regardless of whether 40% of the electoral roll does not participate.
During the morning conference at the National Palace, the president indicated that “on word of honor”, as well as in accordance with his values and ideals, if the population wants him to leave, he will immediately resign from office.

However, he again questioned the work of the National Electoral Institute (INE) during the closure process, since he assured that they have not given the necessary dissemination to the exercise of participatory democracy scheduled for next April 10.
“And I have to say this because the INE, complicitly, does not report, in violation of the Constitution, that on April 10 the people of Mexico, all Mexicans will be asked: 'Do you want the president to follow or resign? '” , he said to the media this Wednesday, March 16.
He also indicated that the electoral body decided to place fewer squares, an act that he described as an attack on the democratic life of the country. Therefore, contrary to what the electoral time indicates, the Mexican president called on citizens to vote in the popular consultation.

Continuing in his presentation, he asked the members of the INE General Council to meet and to make known the place where each and every one of the boxes for the Mandate Revocation will be located, since he accused that such information is hidden from the population.
He also urged that these should be the ones to ensure that there will be enough ballots for democratic exercise, since, he said, that day it cannot be said that “the ballots are already exhausted”.
Finally, despite the closed period, he reiterated that he will not be silent because he came to power with a democratic movement, so he will not allow the country to create a “like democracy” in which different characters impose themselves to allegedly continue robbing and looting the country.

Faced with the strong statements of the Mexican president, INE director Ciro Murayama Rendón, used his social networks to defend the electoral body and make it clear that no boxes or information have been hidden for the popular exercise.
In a message, accompanied by an infographic, the doctor of law declared that the institute “does not hide boxes”, since they are responsible for placing them in the 32 states of the republic. He also indicated that within the General Council it was approved to know the location of all the boxes on March 28.
