Washington, 14 Mar A journalist for the US network Fox News, Benjamin Hall, was injured Monday while working outside Kiev and was taken to a hospital, the channel itself reported. “The safety of our entire team of journalists in Ukraine and the surrounding regions is our top priority and is of the utmost importance,” Fox said in a statement. The president of Fox News, Suzanne Scott, said the network had a “minimum level of detail” about Hall's condition, although she confirmed that the journalist is hospitalized. On Sunday, the US government promised to apply the “appropriate consequences” for the death of American journalist Brent Renaud, who, according to the Kiev Police, was killed on Saturday by Russian forces in the Ukrainian town of Irpin. In a televised interview with CBS, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Sunday that what happened was “shocking and horrifying” and claimed to be in contact with the Ukrainian authorities to obtain more information about it, allowing for the “appropriate consequences” to be taken. Renaud's death, 51, was initially confirmed by the Kiev Police, who blamed Russian forces for the event. At first, it was noted that he was a journalist for The New York Times, which was later denied by the newspaper, with which Renaud had collaborated, but a few years ago. For his part, the Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vasili Nebenzia, denied on Monday that the Russians were shooting at the cameraman and accused the Ukrainians of doing so. Nebenzia also said that Renaud was not a journalist, but a filmmaker. Renaud was hit with Colombian-American photographer Juan Arredondo, who was injured and could be evacuated to a hospital; from there, he wrote a post in which he said that his vehicle was fired by Russian forces as he approached a checkpoint and that Renaud was hit in the neck.
