
Gladbach were defeated at home by Eintracht Frankfurt at the Borussia Park on Wednesday. Gladbach were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to RB Leipzig. Frankfurt were looking to extend their winning run after a 5-2 victory against Bayer Leverkusen. As it stands, Gladbach are in 13th place on the table and has 18 points while Frankfurt sit in 7th with 24 points after 16 matches.
Gladbach started the first half well, thanks to a goal from Florian Neuhaus early in the first half. However, their lead was short lived, as Rafael Borre equalised for Frankfurt just before half-time, finalising the first half 1-1.
The Eagles started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Jesper Lindstrom in the 50th minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Ramy Bensebaini managed to equalize and take the sides off at the 54 minute mark at 2-2. In the end though, Frankfurt, at 55 minutes took the victory following a Daichi Kamada goal. The game ended with a 3-2 victory for Frankfurt.
For Gladbach, Marcus Thuram, Christoph Kramer, Patrick Herrmann and Keanan Bennetts, came on for Laszlo Benes, Florian Neuhaus, Joe Scally and Luca Netz. Frankfurt brought on Sebastian Rode, Makoto Hasebe, Aymen Barkok and Christopher Lenz, to replace Kristijan Jakic, Rafael Borre, Jesper Lindstrom and Djibril Sow.
The referee booked Breel Embolo and Kouadio Kone from Gladbach. Frankfurt had the worst of it though, with Tuta, Rafael Borre, Danny Da Costa and Christopher Lenz seeing yellow, and Tuta (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.
Gladbach will next play Hoffenheim away, with Frankfurt facing Mainz at home.
