Travelling Mainz secure 2-1 win against Arminia

Mainz's 2-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, was hard fought at the Schüco Arena. Arminia were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Borussia Dortmund. Mainz were able to continue their winning streak after a 4-1 win against Augsburg in their last match. As the table looks today, Arminia and Mainz currently occupy 17th and 5th spots in the table, with 5 points and 16 points respectively after 10 matches.

The 05ers started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Lee Jae Sung giving Mainz the lead, 25 minutes in. However, their lead was short lived, as Jacob Laursen equalised for Arminia just before half-time to see out the first half 1-1.

Mainz continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Jonathan Michael Burkardt giving Mainz the lead in the 68th minute. The final result, Arminia 1, Mainz 2.

For Arminia, Patrick Wimmer, Janni Serra, Masaya Okugawa, Florian Kruger and Sebastian Vasiliadis, came on for Nathan De Medina, Fabian Klos, Robin Hack, Bryan Lasme and Edimilson Fernandes. Mainz brought on Leandro Martins, Anderson Lucoqui, Marcus Ingvartsen and Adam Szalai, to replace Lee Jae Sung, Aaron Martin, Jonathan Michael Burkardt and Karim Onisiwo.

There were bookings for Andres Andrade and Manuel Prietl from Arminia, and Dominik Kohr, Alexander Hack and Stefan Bell, for Mainz.

Arminia will next travel to Stuttgart, while Mainz will face B Mönchengladbach at home.
