SC Freiburg snatched all three points from Schalke in a 4-0 victory on Saturday, at the Schwarzwald-Stadion. Freiburg were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last game 1-0 to Arminia Bielefeld. Schalke, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Augsburg in their last match. As it stands, Freiburg are in 9th place, with 40 points from 29 matches, while Schalke sit in 18th, with 13 points from 29.

Freiburg started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Lucas Holer opening the rout early in the first half. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Roland Sallai, 22 minutes in. The score at half time was 2-0.

Freiburg started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early goal from Christian Gunter in the 50th minute. Freiburg then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a second effort from Christian Gunter at the 74 minute mark with a final score of 4-0.

For Freiburg, Yannik Keitel, Nils Petersen, Lukas Kubler, Chang-Hoon Kwon and Woo-yeong Jeong, came on for Baptiste Santamaria, Ermedin Demirovic, Jonathan Schmid, Roland Sallai and Lucas Holer. Schalke brought on Shkodran Mustafi, Mark Uth, Salif Sane, Matthew Hoppe and Goncalo Paciencia, to replace Suat Serdar, Can Bozdogan, Timo Becker, Amine Harit and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

There were bookings for Baptiste Santamaria and Dominique Heintz from Freiburg. For Schalke, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar saw yellow.
