(ATR) Sochi 2014 Olympic champion Alexey Negodaylo and 12 other Russian bobsledders are banned from competing in all international track and field competitions.

According to TASS, the bans are part of the IAAF’s move to suspend the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF) as a member amid the revelations of a state-sponsored doping scandal. The bobsledders in question ended up on an IAAF list of Russian track and field athletes because they had previously performed at a high enough level in that sport before moving on to the bobsled.

Besides Negodaylo, the list also includes 2013 World Championship silver medalist Maxim Mokrousov and the pair of Nadezhda Paleyeva and Nadezhda Sergeyeva, who finished 16th at Sochi.

The IAAF suspended ARAF on Nov. 13 after the first report by the WADA Independent Commission revealed systemic doping in Russian track and field. The newly elected head of ARAF reportedly believes that there is only a 50-50 chance that his country will be allowed to send its track and field athletes to compete at the Rio Games.
