After Caffè Chicco d’Oro, destination Verbier - Val de Bagnes - La Tzoumaz is the second Official Sponsor announced by the Organising Committee of the 2020 UCI Aigle-Martigny Road World Championships.
A world-famous winter sports destination, Verbier, located in the Canton of Valais, is already very involved in cycling with events such as the Grand Raid BCVs, Verbier E-bike Festival and the Tour des Stations. In 2009 the resort hosted a finish stage of the legendary Tour de France.
Eloi Rossier, President of the Verbier/Val de Bagnes - La Tzoumaz Promotion SA Executive Board:
"Cycling and the Val de Bagnes are closely connected. Everyone remembers Alberto Contador’s victorious finish at the Tour de France in 2009, at the end of a stage in which he established his domination. The 2020 UCI Road World Championships will give huge audiences the opportunity to share intense emotions and live the moment with the riders on the bends of the Petite Forclaz. For destination Verbier - Val de Bagnes - La Tzoumaz, being alongside the organisers is an obvious choice."
Alexandre Debons and Grégory Devaud, Co-Presidents of the UCI 2020 Road World Championships Organising Committee:
"Four months away from the 2020 UCI Road World Championships and especially in view of the context of the last two months, this partnership with destination Verbier - Val de Bagnes - La Tzoumaz is a sign of confidence which means a great deal and spurs us on even more.
Verbier has always had a strong position in sport and cycling. We would like to thank the resort for its commitment and look forward to working together."
