The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) today appointed Queensland based company Moreton Hire as the Games Official Marquee and Temporary Structures supplier.

Moreton Hire will be responsible for delivering the marquee and temporary structures including ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC), fire equipment, stairs, flooring and lighting across 42 competition and non-competition venues.

GOLDOC Chairman, Peter Beattie AC said he was pleased to welcome another Queensland business success story to the GC2018 Sponsor Family.

"Experience counts when you are managing an event of this scale and with our focus on delivering a great Games, having another experienced brand join the team is a real show of strength for both our commercial and delivery programs.

"With nearly 50 years’ experience including their work on the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, we know Moreton Hire will get the job done on time and on budget to support what is the largest event in Queensland’s history," Mr Beattie said.

Minister for the Commonwealth Games, Kate Jones, said the Games offers sponsors the opportunity to promote their business before a global television audience of 1.5 billion and more than one million spectators.

"It’s a great opportunity for local businesses. They can play an important role in supporting one of Queensland’s greatest sporting success stories and, at the same time, promote their products and merchandise on a global scale.

"For companies like Moreton Hire, who have just expanded operations globally, the Games are an international branding opportunity to showcase their capability, contribute to a great event experience and achieve a skills legacy through local employment opportunities," Ms Jones said.

Moreton Hire Managing Director, Peter Morahan, said the entire business was looking forward to working on such an iconic event.

"The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) is an historic event for the nation and we’re thrilled to be involved.

"We have a strong Gold Coast presence, currently employing over 150 people in the south-east Queensland region.

"With the scale of our involvement, our teams across Australia, Asia and Europe will all be fundamental in the delivery of the Games, together with over 40 new jobs and hundreds of contracted roles to be recruited.

"Moreton Hire has invested in its people, operations and systems to be in a position to seamlessly deliver major national and international events like the Commonwealth Games and we’re delighted to show the world our own backyard.

"Marquees and temporary structures provide the flexibility to host events in iconic spaces and locations. Our Marquees will certainly be positioned to showcase the Gold Coast, both for the Games and beyond," Mr Morahan said.
