(ATR) PyeongChang 2018 event organizers are utilizing the host city’s initials in their new slogan for the Games.

The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic Games (POCOG) has chosen "Passion. Connected." as the signature slogan.

The primary message of "Passion. Connected." demonstrates the ability of Olympic sport to instill excitement in others while bringing them together at the same time, according to the organizing committee.

To accompany the signature slogan, POCOG created other slogans using the initials of the city. Examples include "People. Connected.", "Possibility. Connected." and "Peace. Connected.," all of which represent key values and initiatives the event organizers plan to promote.

The new slogan was announced at the 1,000 days-to-go celebration in Seoul, South Korea, attended by honorary ambassadors for the Games, committee members and spectators.

"Celebrating just 1000 days-to-go to the Games today, we've seen the connected passion of our citizens and are sure that it will help us to successfully stage Korea’s first Winter Games," POCOG president Yang-Ho Cho commented.

A global brand consultancy firm helped event organizers come up with the slogan. The organizers and firm received ideas and narrowed it down to a short list of candidates before deciding upon "Passion. Connected."

The slogan is reminiscient of the one used for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, "Passion lives here."
