James Cooke (GBR) has won the Men's Swimming event in Modern Pentathlon at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and set a new Olympic record in the process.

James Cooke (GBR) has won the Men's Swimming event in Modern Pentathlon at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and set a new Olympic record in the process.

Cooke (GBR) recorded a time of 1min 55.60secs in the final heat to finish ahead of second-fastest Amro Elgeziry (EGY) and third-fastest Joseph Choong (GBR). Elgeziry (EGY) was the previous Olympic record-holder.

The men's medals will be decided later today after the remaining events: Fencing Bonus Round, Riding and the Combined Event.
