SANTA CRUZ, BOLIVIA (May 2, 2019) — In the beautiful city of Santa Cruz, just 850 kilometers from La Paz in Bolivia, the President of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic, met with Bolivian President Evo Morales after receiving a special invitation from the country’s top authority.

For more than two hours, both leaders met with the President of the Bolivian Olympic Committee, Marco Arce, in a pleasant sports conversation. They discussed the great success of the XI Cochabamba 2018 South American Games, how Lima is being prepared for the next Panam Games in July and most importantly, the interest of the Bolivian people to make Santa Cruz the Host City of the 2027 Pan American Games.

"I am very grateful for the invitation that President Evo Morales sent me. We talked a lot about sports, and he expressed to me the real interest of Bolivia to host the Pan American Games of 2027. It is always positive that there are countries and cities that want to organize our continental sports festival. We are happy that Santa Cruz, Bolivia is officially the second city that has expressed its desire to host the Games, after Barranquilla, Colombia. Hopefully many more will join. That speaks very well of the great product we have and the interest that exists for this great event that brings together the 41 nations of the Americas," President Neven Ilic said after the meeting.

"They already demonstrated with the South American Games in Cochabamba that when they propose something, they deliver. We were all impressed with the great organization they achieved last year. I have expressed my gratitude to the President and I have recommended that they begin to work hand-in-hand between the Government and the Olympic Committee so that they can make this great dream they have a reality," the Panam Sports President added.

"We thank Neven Ilic, President of the Pan American Sports Organization, Panam Sports, for all the information he has given us to advance our goal in Bolivia of hosting the 2027 Pan American Games. A lot of work remains, but we’re on the right track," said Bolivian President, Evo Morales.

During the meeting, President Ilic presented President Morales with a commemorative plaque containing the Panam Sports logo with the Olympic rings, in gratitude for the successful organization of the South American Games in Cochabamba last year. President Ilic also took the opportunity to invite Bolivia’s President to the Opening Ceremony of the Lima 2019 Panam Games in Lima on July 26.

"Thank you very much for the invitation, President. I confirm that I will be there", concluded the President of Bolivia, Evo Morales.
