London, 6 April: bmi, the business airline, has today unveiled its new Premium Check-in area at London Heathrow’s Terminal 1. The new glass surround area is located on the main concourse of Terminal 1 and provides a fast and hassle free check-in service for Business Class and Premium Economy customers as well as bmi Diamond Club Gold and Silver Card holders.
bmi is the only airline at London Heathrow to offer Business Class customers a 30 minute check-in promise enabling them to arrive at check-in as little as 30 minutes before their flight departs with the guarantee that they will make their flight.
Commenting on the new Premium Check-in launch, Katherine Gershon, Sales and Marketing director, bmi said:
“Part of our core customer offering is a quick and smooth experience through the airport and our new Premium Check-in will help to ensure we deliver on this commitment. The new area offers a fast track route for Business Class customers using our 30 minute check-in promise and also provides a spacious and relaxing area where families or larger groups can check-in at a more leisurely pace.”
Premium leisure customers can also experience a more personal service when using the Premium Check-in area with bmi staff collecting luggage and travel documents from customers on arrival so that they can complete the check in formalities whilst they sit back and relax.
Following recent airline moves at London Heathrow, Terminal 1 now handles only 14 million passengers (compared to 23 million at its peak in 2007) leading to fewer unnecessary delays.
The new premium check-in area is part of the bmi’s new better for business philosophy that has seen a number of new launches and industry firsts in recent weeks including:
The launch of Complimentary Chauffeur Drive for customers travelling on fully-flexible Business Class fares on routes from London Heathrow to Cairo, Tel Aviv, Kiev, Beirut, Saudi Arabia and Moscow.
A new five-time weekly direct route from London Heathrow to Kiev – which began on 29 March with prices from £224 return in Economy and £649 return in Business Class.
The introduction of a second daily service from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv on 29 March with the A330 aircraft operating the route from 3 May offering Onboard Chef and Fully-Flat Beds with 82 inches of legroom in Business Class and Business Class-style seats and 50 inches of legroom in Premium Economy
bmi was also the first airline to abolish fuel surcharges on all flights to UK and European destination, the first British airline to trial the OnAir service offering travellers access to in-flight text messages and email and the first airline to offer paperless boarding on all its domestic routes out of London Heathrow.
