(ATR) World records are being broken and athletes are tallying their medals as the Rio Paralympics nears its final days.

(ATR) World records are being broken and athletes are tallying their medals as the Rio Paralympics nears its final days.

The record for women's power lifting - previously at 133kg - was beaten byNigeria’s Lucy Ejike with a massive 142kg lift that earned her a third Paralympic gold medal.

Georgie Hermitage broke the world record for the T37 400m swimming event with a time of 1;53 - winning her second gold medal.

China, Great Britain and Ukraine are leading the Paralympic medal table.

The final four days of competition feature medal events in 17 of the 23 sports disciplines.

Road cycling, wheelchair rugby and paracanoe will begin in Rio today with medal events on Thursday.

The men's and women's wheelchair marathons athletes will be the final medalists of the Games on the afternoon of Sep.18.

The closing ceremony will then get underway at 8 pm local time officially concluding the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

The Rio Paralympic Games began on Sep.7. and will conclude on Sep.18.
