Following their official submission to the International OlympicCommittee in Lausanne on January 6, Beijing 2022 Bid Committee is glad to announcethat it has made its Candidature File public online on its official website, available now for electronic download via the link.

Based around the three concepts of running athletes-centered Games, ensuringsustainable development, and hosting economical Games, the Beijing 2022’s CandidatureFile consists of three volumes divided into 14 themes and provides detailed explanationsregarding over 200 questions and requirements raised by the IOC in relation to theorganization of the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, including: the overallconcept for the Games; its vision; its venue plans, as well as plans for transport, mediaoperations and security.

The Candidature File sheds further light on how Beijing 2022 will bring to life its pledge torunning athletes-centered, sustainable, and economical Games.

In compliance with recommendations included in IOC’s Agenda 2020, Beijing 2022 willfully capitalize on Beijing 2008’s legacy not only in terms of existing competition venues(five of which will be re-used for the Beijing 2022 Winter Games), but also in terms ofinfrastructure, operations experience (including an existing pool of high-levelprofessionals) and much more.

Beijing 2022 will also create a new blueprint for sustainable development throughboosting the economic development of the Beijing-Yanqing-Zhangjiakou sport and culture tourism belt. In other words, the Olympic Games will substantially help theestablishment of a major global winter sports center located at the foot of the Great Wallof China, attracting millions of tourists not just from all over China, but also Asia and thewhole world.

It has been estimated that industries such as sports, culture, tourism and leisure, conferences and exhibitions will amount to about 20% of the local GDP in added valuedue to these efforts.

Developing a strong and prevalent winter sports culture in the Beijing-YanqingZhangjiakouarea, while putting athletes in the center of the plans, will help to developan all-year-round sports practice in China in addition to a new world winter sports marketin East Asia.

During the Games, high-quality services will be provided in areas including training, competition, transport, accommodation, food and beverage, health care and culturalexchange.

It will take only 15 minutes to get from any Olympic and Paralympic Village to anycompetition venue in the same zone, and new high-speed rail route, which will be put inoperation by 2019, will shorten zone-to-zone transit times to only 50 minutes.

The areas where the three Olympic Villages are located all contain rich cultural andnatural environments. The Beijing Olympic Village will be built to the south of the OlympicGreen, in the central area of Beijing, in close proximity to many cultural attractions. TheYanqing Olympic Village will be located in the Xiaohaituo area, with the Badaling sectionof the Great Wall to its southeast and the Yanqing Global Geopark of China nearby. TheZhangjiakou Olympic Village will be located in the centre of the Taizicheng Ice and SnowTown at the foot of the ancient and mighty Great Wall.

Finally, Beijing 2022 pledges to deliver economical Games building on China’s rich knowhowin hosting major international sports events and making full use of existing venuesand facilities.

Beijing has world-class venues as a direct result of hosting the 2008 Olympic Games. Asthe host of the 2019 World Horticulture Expo, Yanqing will have hotels and transportinfrastructure that meet the requirements of the Olympic Games as early as 2019. As forZhangjiakou, it is without a doubt one of the best places in China for developing skitourism, with the Genting Snow Park and a number of ski fields and hotels zoned in thevicinity of Taizicheng Ice and Snow Town. An efficient marketing program will be put inplace to help to cover the cost of the Games.

The Candidature File submission comes in the midst of a rich season of winter sportsevents held in China in support of the Beijing 2022 Bid with the objective of furtherpromoting winter sports in the country. The first series of events, which kicked off beginning in November 2014 and included the Shaun White-endorsed Air + StyleChampionships, the FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup Aerials Season-Opening, the GrandPrix of Figure Skating – Cup of China, and the Short Track Speed Skating World Cup, haveall proven to be wildly successful with high public attendance figures, ideal weatherconditions and an atmosphere ripe with anticipation and excitement.

In accordance with IOC regulations, Beijing 2022 will also deliver copies of its CandidatureFile to both official and honorary members of the IOC as well as all related internationalsports organizations.

The International Olympic Committee will elect the host city for the 2022 Winter Gameson July 31, 2015.
