The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) today celebrates the contribution of Paralympics Australia, Paralympians and athletes of all abilities on International Day of People With Disability.

Para-athletes and the Paralympic movement in Australia continue to inspire and unite Australians.

AOC CEO Matt Carroll said, "It’s important to recognise and celebrate the significant contribution of Paralympics Australia and para-athletes from the elite to grassroots level across Australia."

"On athletics tracks, in swimming pools, velodromes and across all our member sports, every day athletes of all abilities are training, growing and competing together, towards an Olympic or Paralympic goal. I want to acknowledge the work of our member sports in ongoing integration and recognition of para-athletes across their organisations.

"In September and October this year we celebrated 20 years since the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games, and it highlighted the bond shared by Olympians and Paralympians and what can be achieved working together.

"I look forward to continuing the strong connection and relationship with Paralympics Australia towards Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022 and a potential Queensland candidature for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games."
