Earth Day: technology industry also reached the eco friendly era with recycled materials

Eco-friendly products are those that do not harm or seek to reduce the impact of damage on the ecosystem, either because they were made with recycled or biodegradable materials, do not use chemicals or because they seek to reduce the carbon footprint.

These are some of the advantages of having technology products that are friendly to the planet in the home, according to the company Ezviz in a statement:

1. Less waste: High quality and durable reusable products help reduce the amount of disposable products and biodegradable products have a shorter degradation time, usually less than 1 year, which causes them to be more digestible by the planet.

2. Less investment: reusable products mean savings for the pocket.

3. Greater care: they mean energy savings for the planet because they are manufactured in smaller quantities to meet the needs of the population, and they are also made with natural inputs.

5. Greater awareness: buying ecofriendly products, turning off lights and disconnecting household appliances when they are not needed represent not only savings in the pocket, but also a respite for the planet.

Here are some eco friendly technological products:

Eco-friendly computers

Green computers seek to take care of the environment through different initiatives.

The case of Wawa laptop, manufactured in Peru, stands out for being environmentally friendly and low cost. It has a portable solar panel as a source of energy and recyclable materials. It also integrates two free operating systems and GPIO ports that provide access to the development of Robotics, Home Automation and IoT.

The objective of this project is not only to be eco-friendly but also to make equipment available to low-income students so that they have a useful training tool.

There is also the case of Acer Aspire Vero that uses a high degree of recycled materials in all areas of the product. The packaging has 30% recycled plastic in the chassis, which saves about 21% on C02 emissions, and 50% on the keys.

In turn, this computer integrates software that combines several energy-saving configurations into the operating system, with a view to achieving optimized usage for energy efficiency and battery life.

For its part, Samsung's Galaxy Book Pro series adopted the technology of low consumption and long battery life, thus reducing the thickness of the equipment by 10% and maintaining the same charging capacity.

For this technology, the series was highlighted as an eco-friendly product of the year in 2020.

Green cell phones

The Dutch company Fairphone has focused on generating an environmentally friendly product since they first hit the market in 2013 with their first mobile phone. Today they already have the fourth edition of their cell phone, which was presented at the end of 2021.

Fairphone ensures that it manufactures its equipment as sustainably as possible and that it uses, among other things, responsibly and conflict-free tin and tungsten, recycled copper and plastic and fair trade gold.

Remote controls with solar cell

Solar-cell remotes for Samsung QLED 2021 products can be charged with sunlight or indoor lighting using the integrated solar cell panels without disposable batteries.

This seeks to see results equivalent to saving 140 million AA batteries and reducing 8250 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

Mouse and keyboards with recycled elements

There are also green initiatives in this segment. Logitech reported that more than 65% of mice and keyboards, one of the largest categories in its portfolio, are made with post-consumer recycled plastic.

Some 8,000 tons of virgin plastic have been eliminated, equivalent to an estimated saving of 19,000 tons of CO2 over the life cycle of these products

Eco-friendly appliances

Mention may be made of the washing machine and washer-dryer of the Beko line, which are made from plastic waste that has been transformed into an alternative raw material to care for the environment (approximately up to 60 PET bottles of 0.5L).

On the other hand, the RecycledNet kiln has been manufactured from waste extracted: from fishing nets and from waste from industrial thread.

On the other hand, the RecycledDry dryer was designed with an average of 15% recycled plastic, including the water tank housing and the back cover. It is estimated that thanks to this project, 2,420 tons of plastic were recycled during the last two years.
