Due to the infrastructure works being carried out in Medellín, next Monday they will start a new series of night road closures in Medellin, as announced by the municipal administration so that citizens review and plan their routes and not suffer setbacks.

In order to move forward with the improvement of the roads surrounding the San Juan highway interchange, from next Monday, April 25 to May 7, there will be partial closures at the roundabout of the 80 with San Juan and total closures of the service roads of the 80.

These night restrictions will take place from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily. According to the Mayor's Office of Medellín, this schedule was chosen in order to mitigate the impacts on vehicle mobility in this sector of the western part of the city.

However, the administration assured that traffic on a lane at the roundabout will always be guaranteed. Vehicles that take the service roads on the southwestern and northeastern sides must be diverted along the routes enabled during the execution of the project:

- East-South: you will take race 82, go up 44B Street to Carrera 84, near La América Church, where you can continue to Santa Monica, La Castellana and Belén neighborhoods or take the detour enabled by 42C Street to reach 80 Avenue again south.

- East-North: take race 82, go down 44B street and continue on race 81 to diagonal 80A where they will return to 80th, near La Floresta metro station.

The work that will be carried out from next April 25, according to the territorial authorities, will allow the renovation of more than 300 meters of track. Likewise, the mayor's office reported that the works on the road exchange are in 80% completion.

Highway bridge of Colombia's highway interchange with the 80

It is worth mentioning that a month ago the highway bridge of Colombia's highway interchange with the 80 was opened, one of the most important components of this infrastructure project being carried out in the capital of Antioquia.

Daniel Quintero stressed that the important infrastructure work was delivered ahead of schedule. According to the projections of the Mayor's Office of Medellín, this bridge would be delivered in May of this year. However, it should be noted that the work is not yet 100% finished.

Natalia Urrego, Secretary of Physical Infrastructure of Medellín, said on a previous occasion that this road exchange will not only have a positive impact on mobility, but also that its execution generates 15,360 square meters of new public space that will include platforms and street furniture.

The Mayor's Office of Medellín highlighted that with the execution of Colombia's road exchange with Calle 80, 329 jobs have been generated, 89 of them in the community, equivalent to 30%, and 26 women, representing 8% of the construction personnel.
