Charles Leclerc didn't have the best start to the week. The Formula 1 lead driver suffered a costly robbery in Italy as he prepares for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, in Imola this Sunday.

A watch valued at $320,000 was stolen from the Monegasque Ferrari. This is the Richard Mille 67-02 model, which was personalized with the colors of the Monaco flag, the brand that sponsors the Scuderia in F1.

In 2021, a similar prototype was auctioned for just over 2.1 million dollars, although the same model can be obtained on the market at $320,000. The news caused a stir in the world, especially because of the unusual trick they used to take it away.

Charles was approached while strolling through the Darsena in Viareggio, province of Lucca, Tuscany region, located near Livorno in Italy, by an alleged fan who asked him for a photo and stole the expensive artifact from his left wrist and then immediately fled.

At that time, according to TGCOM24, Mediaset's news website, he was with his personal trainer, Andrea Ferrari, a native of Viareggio. In the last photos taken of Leclerc he can be seen with the aforementioned watch. According to the US portal TMZ, neither Leclerc nor his companion suffered injuries. The incident has already been reported to the police, which launched an investigation and so far did not capture the thief.

Regarding the event, Andrea Ferrari used social media to denounce and complain to the authorities about the lack of lights in the place. “The Via Salvatori has been completely dark for months, we have been pointing it out for months. Yesterday in Via Salvatori we were robbed. Do you think about fixing the lights sooner or later? It's a friend's request,” Leclerc's coach posted in an Instagram story.
