The world of football fired Freddy Rincón

From FIFA and the president of Conmebol, Paraguayan Alejandro Domínguez, to former teammates such as Iván René Valenciano or Ecuadorian Alex Aguinaga, and numerous clubs have shown their condolences on the death of former Colombian player Freddy Rincón, who died this morning, at the age of 55, by failing to overcome the injuries that occurred on Monday in a traffic accident in Cali.

“We joined many in the football world to remember Freddy Rincón. Our deepest condolences go to his loved ones, former teammates and fans of the clubs he played for and the national team, which he represented in three world championships. Rest in peace,” the entity that regulates world football broadcasted on social networks.

The former Corinthians and Real Madrid footballer, among other teams, was traveling together with three other people in a van that crashed into a public service bus on Monday in the capital of the department of Valle del Cauca.

Alejandro Domínguez, president of Conmebol, posted on his Twitter account: “I deeply regret Freddy Rincón's departure. Thank you for making your mark on South American football. I send my condolences to their families and to Colombian football,” while the governing body of South American football added: “CONMEBOL mourns the passing of Freddy Rincón, a great player and idol of Colombian football, and expresses its condolences to his family and friends.”

Real Madrid, its president and its Board of Directors, “deeply regret the death of Freddy Rincón, a Real Madrid player between 1995 and 1996,” the team merengue said in an official statement published on its website. “Real Madrid wants to express its condolences and its affection and affection to all its families, to its teammates and coaches, to its clubs and to all its loved ones. Rincón won 1 Club World Cup and 2 Brazilian Leagues with Corinthians, 2 Colombian Leagues with America in Cali and 1 Colombian Cup with Independiente Santa Fe,” he said.

Among the European clubs that spoke out, Napoli from Italy was also present: “From SSC Napoli we joined the pain of the Colombian people after the death of beloved Freddy Rincón. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”

The Colombian Football Federation “deeply regrets the passing of Freddy Eusebio Rincón Valencia, and sends a message of support and encouragement to his family, friends and relatives, in this difficult time. Rincón was part of our Colombia National Team at the FIFA World Cups Italy 1990, USA 1994 and France 1998. As well as the Copas América 1991, 1993 and 1995.

The Corinthians of Brazil, a club that also saw him wear his colors, spoke on Twitter: “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a great idol. Our captain in the first world title, Freddy Rincón passed away this morning on Thursday. Eternally in our hearts. Thank you for everything, captain.”

Alex Aguinaga (star and captain of the Ecuadorian national team in the 90s of the last century) said goodbye to his former colleague: “DEP dear friend. It was always a pleasure to share a court with you. To his relatives my feeling of condolence and prompt resignation. Freddy Rincon”.

America de Cali, meanwhile, published: “Football is in mourning. Freddy Rincón, legend of Colombian football, has passed away. We express our solidarity and sincerest condolences to their families and friends at this difficult time.”
