According to statements by prosecutor Uriel Carmona Gándara, the line of investigation being followed is from a human trafficking network that comprises three states: Puebla, Veracruz and Morelos.

According to the inquiries, the last time she was seen, she was in a cafe with a man, who is believed to be the interviewer.

One day after locating the body, according to local state media, the FGE conducted a search at a home and shop (a barbershop) located on the same avenue where it was found.

This operation was carried out by elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the FGE. It is believed that the attack against the girl took place in these establishments, however, the authorities have not yet released the findings, although they were said to contain evidence.

Nor were there any detainees in the judicial action. The raid lasted about two hours, according to local media, and the places intervened were secured with stamps under the file number. The investigations are carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Femicide

Employees of a nursery found the body around 2:00 p.m., so they called the authorities when they saw a strange bag on the side of the place where they work.

Police officers confirmed that it was the remains of a young woman and later the correspondences were established with the characteristics to Evelin's report.

Afiune Ramirez had recently graduated, so he was looking for a job. This marks the state of Morelos with 19 femicides so far in 2022.

It should be noted that the entity where Evelin was killed has been with the Gender Violence Alert (AVG) for seven years now, an emergency mechanism that seeks to prevent female violence.

The entity ranked first national in feminicide folders in August 2021. Similarly, AVG is active in eight municipalities in the state: Cuernavaca, Emiliano Zapata, Jiutepec, Puente de Ixtla, Temixco, Xochitepec, Yautepec and Cuautla.
