For the crime of violent carnal access, a man who had sexually abused his minor daughter was sent to prison. The subject also impregnated the girl and threatened her on several occasions so that she would not tell what was happening.
The Attorney General's Office reported that the defendant was arrested in compliance with the court order weighing against him by investigators from the CTI of the Caivas unit of the Caquetá Sectional, with the support of the National Army.
He abused and threatened his own daughter
According to the investigations carried out by the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, the subject concerned persuaded the mother of the 16-year-old girl to allow her to take the minor to a farm owned by her.
The father of the minor assured his daughter's mother that he would take her to help him with household chores in the house located in the rural area of El Doncello. According to him, he needed his daughter to accompany him and clean the farm while he did fieldwork.
In those moments when he managed to take the minor away from his home, it was when he took the opportunity to access her carnally. However, these events would also have been recorded at his place of residence.
According to the victim of sexual abuse, her father threatened her to tell what happened every time they were alone. Apparently, the subject told the minor that if she told anything about what happened, she was going to kill her, also her mother and subsequently commit suicide.
As a result of the constant acts of sexual abuse, the girl under 16 years of age became pregnant. Once his father found out about the situation, he warned him that he could not tell the truth and ordered him to ensure that a military man was responsible.
However, according to investigations carried out by the Prosecutor's Office, the victim's family began to notice strange behavior, until the minor had the confidence to confess that she had been the victim of her own father.
When it became known what had been happening, the mother of the minor decided to report the alleged criminal abuser and that diligence ended with the capture and prosecution of the subject, who did not accept the charges against her.
In 61 per cent of complaints related to sexual offences, victims are minors
Due to the critical panorama faced by minors in Colombia, the Laboratory for the Economics of Education (LEE) of the Javeriana University published an investigation called “Sexual crimes against minors in Colombia: sex education as the main tool”, where it is evident that not only have reports related to crimes increased but the most affected in this type of crime are minors.
LEE noted that in 2021, approximately 43,993 complaints associated with sexual crimes were filed in Colombia, in which 85.4% of the cases the victim is a woman. In addition, in addition to 100 per cent of complaints, 27,000 complaints, or 61 per cent, relate to cases against children and adolescents. This implies that, on average, a child abuse is reported every 20 minutes.
