This is how motorcyclist demonstrations are progressing in Bogotá

The motorcycle collective and the authorities of the capital reported that drivers are gathering at more than 20 points this Wednesday, April 6. Here all the details

Leaders of 48 motorcycle organizations in Bogotá announced a new day of protests in the city from 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 6, in order to demonstrate their disagreement with the measure imposed by Bogotá Mayor Claudia López to restrict the barbecue on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday, between 7:00 in the evening and 4:00 in the morning.

According to the motorcyclists collective, the agreed concentration points are: the Virgilio Barco Public Library, 63rd Street with Carrera 68, the South Highway with Villavicencio, and El Campín.

Likewise, the authorities did not rule out that concentrations could be recorded in the vicinity of El Dorado International Airport; Plaza de Bolivar; “Y” Yomasa; in the entry and exit to Soacha; entry and exit to La Calera; entry and exit to Cota - Suba; Santa Librada - Usme neighborhood; to the north of the city in the Rosales, La Cabrera, El Nogal, Chico and Unicentro; in the Ministry of Mobility; Ministry of Transport; Movistar Arena; Virgilio Barco Library; Los 3 Elefantes Bay; South, North and Salitre Transport Terminal; President's House; RCN Channel and in the Caracol Channel.

As for the stations and portals of TransMilenio that could be affected during the day, the authorities indicated that they could be: Molinos station; portal of the Americas; portal el Tunal; portal del Sur; portal of 80th Street; portal of Usme; portal of July 20; portal el Dorado; portal of Suba, and the portal del Norte.

The Ministry of Mobility reported that, around 12:15pm this Wednesday afternoon, a group of motorcyclists began to move on 63rd Street with NQS Avenue, in the direction of East-West, bound for the main meeting point of the biker's guild: the Virgilio Barco Library.

By 12:26 in the afternoon, W Radio announced that dozens of bikers were already beginning to gather in the vicinity of the Virgilio Barco Library in order to “carry out a turtle plan through several roads of the city”.

Around 12:37 in the afternoon, the Ministry of Mobility reported that about 120 motorcyclists traveling along 63rd Street with NQS, west-east direction, completely blocked the mixed road of this sector.

At the same time, the entity reported on a sit-in of approximately 50 of these vehicles in race 60 with 53rd street, north/south, who remained “awaiting the arrival of the group of motorcyclists traveling on the NQS”.

At 12:52 in the afternoon, a demonstration was held on 26th Street (Av. Dorado) with race 45, east-west direction. According to the Secretariat, a group of around 50 motorcyclists blocked the mixed and exclusive roads of this road.

At 1:07 in the afternoon, one of the members of the motorcycle guild confirmed through social networks that hundreds of people were already beginning to gather in the Virgilio Barco Library, so he indicated that “some mobility issues are going to be generated”.

The latest report from the Ministry of Mobility announced that, by 1:14 in the afternoon, “all motorcyclists' mobilizations were unified and at this time they are located on 63rd street with race 60 in the direction of East - West, causing road damage to the mixed road.”

For its part, TransMilenio reported that, at 1:17 in the afternoon, its trunk, zonal and TransmiCable services were operating in complete normality. At the moment, the mass transport system is not affecting its operation.
