President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) reaffirmed his campaign commitment to “true accountability” for what happened in the murder of the 43 students of Ayotzinapa, Guerrero.
After announcing that his administration is already preparing a first report on the progress of the investigations, the president boasted that, had his Government not triumphed in the 2018 presidential elections, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) would have already “shelved” the crime.
With regard to the inquiries, the Chief Executive confirmed that the authorities released “a version that does not correspond to what happened”: “We are going to make known what is considered to have really happened”.
“We are going to make known who is responsible and that everything is known (...) Know the mobile phones; who participated; why they lied giving a version that does not correspond to what happened. And most importantly: know where young people are (...)
Nothing is going to be hidden. There are quite a few elements, but it is still missing. There is no impunity,” he exclaimed.
