During the non-televised event prior to the 2022 Grammy Awards, where the first winners of one of the gala's multiple categories were mentioned, a disconcerting event occurred that netizens, especially Mexicans, did not overlook.

And it is that country music singer Jimmie Allen, who presented the winner for Best Mexican Regional Album, said after announcing Vicente Fernández as the winner that he could not attend the awards in Las Vegas, since the famous Charro de Huentitán died on December 12, 2021.

Christian Nodal (“Ayayay! Super Deluxe”), Natalia Lafourcade (“A Song for Mexico, Vol. II”), Mon Laferte (“Six”) and Aida Cuevas (” Anthology of Ranchera Music, Vol. 2″), but he was the Mexican artist who was honored even after his death.

The singer of The Law of the Mountain and Divine Women won a posthumous award for his last work before he died: In my 80s, but when he made it known, the American musician made a mistake and made it obvious.

“Neither did he come (Vicente Fernández), but congratulations. This is a great honor, even if you haven't been able to attend today,” said Allen, who probably doesn't know Fernández's identity and also that the charro has already passed away.

The criticism was not long in coming against the musician, because it seemed, according to multiple Internet users, that Allen did not know one of the greatest icons of the Mexican regional genre, causing greater surprise that the musician presented such a category without knowing much about the subject.

“What do you mean they said that Vicente Fernández could not go to the Grammys”, “Do they reward Vicente Fernández and the presenter says He didn't come?” , “Who tells Vicente Fernández not to go?” , are some of the comments that were surprised by the musician's ignorance of the internationally famous charro.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States wanted to recognize Vicente Fernández's latest album in a section of the Grammys in which musical subgenres such as band, norteño, corrido, mariachi, grupero and ranchera are grouped together. And although this category might be thought to be more related to the Latin Grammy, it is the “anglo” edition of the gala where it was incorporated.

The album A mis 80s, composed of 13 songs of his authorship that include La barca, No longer insist heart, I swear I will never return or my grandson, was released in December 2020 and tonight was awarded at the 64th edition of the Grammys, which return to 'normal', but this time from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, due to the increase in COVID-19 positive cases experienced by Los Angeles, a city that traditionally served as the venue for the gala, in January.

Throughout his entire career, Chente recorded more than a hundred albums, shot 20 films and received countless awards in life such as: three Grammy Awards, eight Latin Grammy Awards, 14 Lo Nuestro Awards and one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Throughout his career he won 14 nominations including that of this 2022. While at the Latin Grammys he won 14 nominations and nine statuettes.

The death of the charro de Huentitán deeply shocked his millions of fans, his colleagues and especially his family, according to the reporters who came to receive the health report, his children and grandchildren had been meeting for a couple of days at the Country 2000 hospital in Guadalajara, where he died on singer in December 2021.
